Whew! What a Week! Yes, I am crazy...After being at Market on Monday and Tuesday, I turned right back around on Thursday this time with the fam. For my 3 year old's birthday I had great plans to take her and my 10 year old to the American girl Store in Atlanta and let them spend the night at the Marriot with the "American Girl" package. We left yesterday at lunch and arrived right about traffic time. But when is Atlanta ever traffic free? So my little one, excited as she was, has had the catalog out for a month, debating over which doll she was going to choose. She wanted to be just like her sister...no that is not actually true.... she just needed one of her own because her sister would NEVER let her lay a hand on one of her dolls:) As soon as we walk in the door at American Girl, the place totally overwhelmed her. All she wanted to do was ride the Carousel and get one of those germ infested, five dollar car strollers for people who are crazy enough to forget their own stroller.(which would be me and I used ALOT of germ-x)....Have mercy, momma's plans were not working out as she intended! SO knowing that she would be HIGHLY upset if we got to the hotel and she had no doll to walk the pink carpet with, to eat milk and cookies at bedtime with or to sleep in the super cute pink bed they have waiting for her doll in the room...I picked out two and made her pick one. She chose the cute blond bitty twin and we were out of there...She lasted all of about 5 minutes and I couldn't pull my 10 year old out. Yes... this is a home decor blog, not a Days of our Lives Episode, although sometimes I wonder.....
The hotel gave the girls vouchers for free ice cream Sundae's in the hotel restaurant. Since we arrived so late, I thought I would be the cool mom and let them have Sundae's for breakfast.
( totally against my husbands better judgment) Our plans were to head to the Georgia Aquarium for the day. We had no more finished up our Sundae's when my 10 year old
(who has severe tree nut allergies) states "Mom, there was something chewy in my ice cream and my throat feels really funny." Oh my Lord, you have got to be kidding me!! Thankfully, it was nothing severe, no Epipin administered.....it must have been a sliver that had gotten on a spoon or something. She had a stomach ache the whole way there but told us she was getting a little better...and yes... as we were walking into the aquarium it all came up right in front of everyone standing in line... awesome... Poor baby was mortified...I am sure people thought we were the nut case family bringing in a stomach virus to spread to everyone. After a change of clothes and making sure she was REALLY fine, we were good to go and had a great time....

On the way home I was able to stop at IKEA for the first time. This place is gargantuan. I left my family downstairs with the baby sleeping and roamed around for what I thought was about 15 minutes was actually an hour. I got lost on the top floor and had to ask someone how to get back down! I left with an armload of curtains and new dishtowels.

Mine were looking rough...These were only 49 cents a piece and they are cute and absorbant! They even have a little loop on the back so you can hang them on a hook.

I was totally excited about the curtains. They are the exact color I wanted. I was going to do something with the canvas drop cloths again but I couldn't pass this deal up. They need ironing really bad... The curtains are cotton but are a great weight and have the "Linen" look that I love. The awesome thing about these is that they come in 98 and 110 lengths so you can hang them at the ceiling! AND the best part is that they were 19.99 for the PAIR!!

Well, I hope y'all are working hard on those RESTORE projects!! Our party starts Wednesday and I will have a GREAT giveaway for my favorite link up!!!

  2. Beautiful, and glad you were able to visit Ikea, i'ts been around for ages, and truly is a genius of a store. My first visit left me wanting to work for them, however they were too far away from my home, it would have been a nearly 3 hour commute lol. I still love Ikea, and have shopped with them for over 20 years. You'll have to spend much more time on your next visit, and plan to have lunch.

  3. Even though this isn't a soap, I enjoyed it nonetheless. I understand the nut allergy and having two girls that are different, but simialr? LOL

  5. All but the nut allergy it sounds like you had fun. How funny I was at Ikea yesterday and picked up the same towels, althought I think mine will become pillow covers. I almost bought some drapes but I was looking more towards the couches.

  6. I can sympathize as I have tree-nut kid, too. He still at age 42 carries an epipin; but let me encourage you that as they get older, they get very good at recoginizing those nuts before entering their mouths. I'm envious of your Ikea experience - I've yet to visit one. Have a great week. Sally

awal.ny- You must show me the pillow covers when you get done!! What a great idea!!
Sally and Erin- It's amazing how common the allergy thing is...Thanks for the encouragement!!!

  10. You got some great deals at Ikea. I miss Atlanta so much. Can't wait to visit my boys again so I can hit Ikea again. And visit, sure, that's what I meant. I wish there was online shopping. Love that white bowl your towels are in.

  11. You're so right, both about Atlanta traffic and about IKEA being gargantuan! I love the store though. Haven't been in way too long, and I think we'll need to try to get there in the spring. They have some amazing things!
