A sweet girl from my church contacted me a few weeks ago and said she had her grandmothers dining room furniture she wanted to part with to make room for a play area for her kids. I know it was super hard for her to sell them but I hope she will be pleased with how much love I have given them so far. They were so worn from lots of use. They had scratches and missing veneer just due to the age of the pieces. I spent the last few weeks deciding what I wanted to do, and I finally rested on the fact that I wanted to layer paint. This turned out to be the best thing because it hid all of the imperfections on the top without having to strip and sand. I started with the buffet and I have a table, chairs, and china cabinet to work on as well.

You know what else it pretty cool? I don't have a picture, but it has a hidden, secret drawer for silver!

ReplyDeleteI'm on love. You did such a great job. It's hard to pull of the layered paint finish, but this looks awesome.
ReplyDeleteI love this project. I have a buffet that was my grandmother's and it is VERY similar to this one. It too is missing pieces of veneer and looks pretty rough. Maybe I'll try something like this on it. I love that you finished it off with the wax.
ReplyDeleteI was in your store today...love your new booth and all your pieces. I WANT that precious white dresser! So glad to see the store will stay...it's one of my faves.
