So, instead of painting today, I worked on my front door. My curb appeal is slacking a little bit. I am notorious for starting off strong with great pots and pretty wall planters but when the Alabama heat sets in and you have to water them 3 times a day....well...let's just say by mid July, I have to start over.
I went to Andy's Creekside Nursury and found some pink Colius, some white impatients, that do really well on my shaded porch, and some creeping Jenny. You cannot kill creeping Jenny and if you plant it in your yard it will come back every year. It trails and is a really pretty lime green color. I layed a scrap of burlap in the bottom to help hold the dirt and reatain moisture but I also love how it looks. This will be so pretty once the creeping Jenny trails and the impatients bloom.
As far as my diet goes...I had another great day! How about you? I went to whole foods and bought some fresh basil, hot house tomatoes and some feta cheese for my lunch. Tomato, Basil and Feta is one of my favorite sandwhiches and they are even better when you can get the July tomatoes. I toasted my whole wheat bread with olive oil and layered the basil, tomato and feta. They serve this same sandwhich at Tazikkis but I think mine tasted better! I had some oranges to go along with it. Normally for lunch I would have eaten a cheese sandwich and a lot of potato chips with a diet coke. I didn't miss the chips, but I craved the diet coke. I am finding though, that it's a lot easier for me to drink water cold out of the fridge with a slice of lemon and no ice.
The gym....well that's another story. I am full of excuses. One of them being that tonight was another severe weather threat. I was going to go while the oldest was at dance but I didn't. I should have gone this morning! Oh well.... Tomorrow is another day. Thank you Jesus that your mercies are new every morning!
The flowers look so welcoming! Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love something fresh and living adorning the doorway. My favorite - looks so so pretty!
ReplyDeleteAmen!
ReplyDeleteAnd, your flowers look lovely tucked neatly into your burlap.
Blessings to you today.

Kelli,
ReplyDeleteI ordered some the paint too! It came yesterday, now the wax is on back order! I am going to wait until I have it all, unless you can suggest another wax?? Your front door flowers look great, almost as good as the sandwich!!

I have a red desk that was stained red. I dislike sanding very much and am not at all excited about sanding it! I'm curious of the chalk paint - I can't wait to see pictures of your finished pieces!

Amen and amen!! And that sandwich looked delicious!!
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to walk everyday but the winds have been so high (35 to 70 MPH) that it has been impossible. Soooo..I wait for the winds to die down!!
I have some of the chalk paint but haven't tried it yet. No sanding had me for sure!!
Hugs

Your lunch looks yummy! Good for you for eating healthier. Now, I am definitely getting off the computer and heading to the gym, thanks for the motivation.
ReplyDeleteLove the front door inspiration! And the delicious sandwich :)
ReplyDeleteI am waiting for a shipment of the chalk paint as well. Can't wait to give it a whirl. I am also doing fairly well on my diet, I splurged over the weekend a bit while on a trip and the new calorie listings on the restaurant menus was an eye opener! The fajita dinner my mom and I shared had a total of 1800 calories listed, Wowzer! Anyways, I was going to suggest putting some slices of cucumber and a sliced strawberry in a pitcher of water in the fridge, it is a very refreshing flavor. Try a greek sandwich, the same bread as your sandwich, sliced cucumbers, feta cheese, a light sprinkle of oregano, tomato and kalamata olives. It is delish! I can't wait to hear the results of your testing out of the chalk paint!
ReplyDeleteYou will love the chalk paint, it's fabulous!!
