LOVE THAT LOUIS BLUE

I almost didn't get a post up tonight. We are traveling with my husband, who is a part time children's pastor. He is leading a Vacation Bible School in Mobile, Alabama through the weekend. We arrived late and I realized when I sat down to write that I had left my camera in the car, 25 floors down. My sweet husband didn't want anybody to be left hanging tonight so he went to the car for me to get it and I didn't even ask him too!  I know....Awe....how sweet.  His servant heart is what made me fall in love with him.

"Ahem" anyway......I am sitting at my computer, in the dark, with my decaf coffee,  the girls and the hubs are sawing logs behind me, and I am talking to you. Yes, I love you that much.

I stayed up until about 12:30 last night, finishing up a few tables I started this week so I would have something to talk about while I was here.  One of them was this straight lined night stand that I bought at a church mission sale from a friend who will be moving to Mexico to minister to orphans. It came with a matching dresser and bed. I started with this small one,  not really knowing what to do with a piece that had no detail. I am not used to that. But after a couple of coats of Louis Blue and Old white, a distressing and a coat of wax, I think she looks pretty sweet, don't you?

This piece was shiny, shiny, and did I say shiny (?) veneer. I did not prime one bit of it. Annie Sloane Chalk paint, all the way. I distressed it with a wet rag. If some of you missed that post, it is the best way to distress chalk paint, in my opinion. After the coats dry, use an old wet rag and wipe off with pressure in the areas you want to distress. This is far less messy and is so much easier. Honestly, I think you get better precision.

I applied only one coat of wax and then came back and buffed it really good. It shined it up a little bid and left a remarkable feel on the piece.

It looks like it belongs in my little lake cabin, doesn't it? NAH.... if I keep hanging on to every piece I finish, I will NEVER make any money! Out of the 3 tables I finished last night, one of them will be staying at home. I'll show you that one in another post........

Okay...off to join my family. It's going to be an early morning.
