A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS

It doesn't take much to put a smile on my face. I received a happy in the mail this week, an ebay purchase, that quickly made it to the top of my favorite things list, vintage clothes pins. I LOVE vintage clothes pins. I love them not only because they are made better and hold up longer than new ones, but they remind of time spent with my grandmother. I can still see her vintage blue rose sheets flowing with the wind off the line in her back yard.

The new clothes pins don't hold a candle to the old ones.
You have to really try hard to break them.  I had a bag of new pins that I bought a few months ago and every one of them are in the garbage. The springs broke after only a few uses. The vintage ones are heavy and strong.
My wheels are turning with so many ideas for these. I have several of them in my pantry for chip clips and the rest of them I am enjoying looking at in one of my old ball jars. A few already made it out to help me display our valentine that my 4 year old and my 11 year old made for us. Isn't this cute? This is my 365 picture from Valentines Day. Doesn't that look just like me on the left? HA! My husband looks like a baked potato! Their little art always melts my heart.

When I was messing around on Pinterest I found this great idea. Unfortunately it wasn't tagged right and I can't give credit. I don't know where it came from. If you find the blog let me know. This is so simple and yet so beautiful. How fun would it be to do a 12 month growth chart of a new born in one of these? Or a picture of each year you were married? In our case 15 years....Wow...This might have to be a project in my hallway family gallery.

Happy Saturday! If you are out thrifting don't pass up the vintage clothes pins!

  1. I agree about the clothes pins! I have a few old ones left that were my mother in-laws but the rest are new, and the new ones are junk! I wonder if you can find old ones on eBay? I love that Pin also!

  2. Sweet - I use clothes pins for so many things (excluding hanging the wash out to dry, I really should set something up for that one too!) Thanks for sharing and have a smashing Saturday.
