ADVANCED PAINT CLASS AT FAUX STUDIO DESIGNS

I know that I said I would have this post up on Friday and I apologize. I didn't realize I would have to re learn how to use my photos with this mac either. I normally edit with adobe photoshop and I don't have it on my computer yet. Does anyone know if I can transfer my license to this new computer? I bought and downloaded the windows version and I lost it in the crash. I really don't want to have to re buy it. I've been using iPhoto over the past few days and I really like a lot but I can't add text to my pictures for a watermark. Any help would be appreciated!

So, on Tuesday I had the great pleasure of attending my friend Stacey's advanced paint techniques class in her store, Faux Studio Designs. We spent the entire day together working to create several finishes. My favorites of all four that we learned were the chipped paint technique and the layered paint technique. Annie Sloan has some incredible new products out that I enjoyed using, one of them being the two step crackleur. Stacey is also carrying some products that are not Annie Sloan such as my favorite, the pull off crackle. It allows you to pull of paint in certain areas while crackles at the same time.

We used this product for this finish......

Isn't this gorgeous? This one was done on a brand new cabinet door and by the time we were done, it looked like it had hundreds of years of old paint and patina. This was by far my favorite of the day.

Stacey also taught us how to achieve this chipped paint finish, but I was sworn to secrecy on this one. I'll have to tell you like she tells me all the time..."It's an ancient Chinese secret, if I told you I would have to kill you." HAHA! Not really, but there are some things that have to stay in the studio. She will have another advanced class within the next 6 months. I highly recommend the class!

If you have not been in her studio in a while, you should pop in soon and let her walk you through all of the new products. I promise they will take you to the next level and help you dive deeper into your creativity.

I also want to mention that Stacey will be attending a professional canvas class in Destin, Florida. It looks like a ton of fun as well as a fantastic investment if you sell your art or are thinking of selling your art. The class will be held at The Studio Destin if you would be interested in attending as well. The Canvas Creators class with Mindy Harrell will be held May 17-19th.

Have a great Sunday! I am about to head to the Decorators Showhouse here in Birmingham and I can't wait!

  2. I am pretty sure you can download it to a finite number( usually 2-3) of computers. So I would try it and see if it will let you . The worst that can happen is that it says no, and then you can just write off the purchase on this years taxes!
