What started out as a hobby in November of 2010 has recently turned itself into a great little small business. I started out thinking I was doing this as an outlet to express what God is and has done in my life and an opportunity to support a ministry and do some home improvements. Somewhere along the way it has turned into a full fledged business demanding that I finally succumb to Uncle Sam. God is opening some great doors for me and I continue to walk through them, following His lead. Today I spent the day trying to figure out how to make things legal. I formed an LLC now making me Restore Interiors LLC if all goes well. Years ago I had another business where I had done all of the legal documentation except the LLC but I can't remember what I did and how I did it! Unfortunatly, this is all over my head and I found myself at the end of the day more confused than when I started.....
Apparently I need not only an LLC but schedule D and Schedule C and a business license and another license and another one and YADA YADA.... The paper work seems to be getting bigger and bigger.
So, over the next couple of days I will be figuring all of this out. I may have pulled out all of my hair when I am done but when I do finally finish, I will commit a post or two on taking the necessary steps to legally start your own small business. You can let me do all the research and the work and I will just pay it forward! Sound good? Okay.
I also worked on a new finish. I love so much the finish on the buffet and the trestle table but you can only do that so many times. This one is similar but with a few more layers and a different glazing technique. Come back tomorrow to see if I'm done and view the whole piece! She's a beauty.
Congradulations!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations..and good luck with the business adventure. My parents/family have a restaurant, and the business licensing, and taxes seems to never end (well it doesn't!) Small downer to all the perks of owning your own business...It's a great adventure! Wish you well..God seems to be smiling on you! Anything we do in honor of Him seems to flourish!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!! If you give them half a chance...they will bury you in paperwork and legalities!!! Sigh!
ReplyDeleteLove the new finish by the way...beautiful!
