FRENCH DRESSER MAKEOVER

A few weeks ago I bought this amazing White Fine Furniture dresser off Craigslist. It turned out, the sweet girl I bought it from works at Urban Green and I knew her. Small World. This little dresser was ready for new life and I think she got just the look she needed. Here is a basement shot, raw photo of the before. The hardware was in amazing, perfect shape and the lines were dreamy. This baby is heavy too! I usually can maneuver pieces alone with a  dolly but with this one, I had to have help.

Please disregard the lovely cracks in the cement and the un kept lawn.
I had to style it in my driveway because that's as far as I could move it!

I obviously experimented with layers again. I began dry brushing a thick layer of adhesion primer as my white just to make sure my layers stuck. I followed with a slate gray oops paint and then a french gray blue oops paint. One day I will get technical with paint colors for you so I can be exact but the oops paint is just SO much cheaper.

I wiped it down with a minwax dark walnut stain and hit a few high spots with my friend Karen's dark glaze she sent me.

My favorite thing to use right now is this dark wax. I used a brush and went into all of the crevices to age it even more. An artist brush is perfect for applying this wax. I tried to follow all of the lines around the top of the dresser  as well.

I love how it turned out! This will be at Urban Green in the very near future because my cute little blue dresser just sold.

And I can't help but show you a closup of my gorgeous dogwood. Aside from the pollen, I am so in love with this time of year.

  7. Turned out gorgeous! I am so envious you have Dogwood. We had some beautiful blooming trees, but the torrential rain kind of damped the look. Have a lovely Sunday! -K

  17. I have the partner to this dresser in my livingroom. It's smaller with only 2 rows of drawers but I adore this style. Painted it white with no antiquing, but I'm re thinking that. What brand of primer do you use? Are you saying that you only used the primer before you began the oops paints? Saves lots of time if that's what you do. Thanks for sharing.
