PAPILLON...an eclectic treasure trove

It's a given. Anytime we travel, my vintage radar goes off, forcing me to make a B line for the downtown districts where I know I can usually find one unique shop. Today was the day. After VBS we took the girls to an old Soda Shop to get ice cream. On the way back to the hotel I spotted this...........

Anytime you see an old bathtub and sink outside of a shop, you have go see what it's all about, right? It drew me in.

The store is Papillon, located in the downtown Mobile, Alabama District. The owner, Shar Begnaud, calls herself an Eclectic Retailer. I would say she has that nailed. Her store is filled with wonderful old vintage finds that you don't normally see at your average antique store, in Birmingham anyway.

Today, Papillon invited you into it's doors with a lovely display of vintage accessories such as scarves and purses, delightfully displayed in old wire baskets and suitcases.

Shar is a really sweet girl with a great eye for unique things. She also wears super cool hats, don't you think?

This girl has loads of old hardware. I had to restrain myself from buying all of the Victorian door knobs. They would look so cool on an old piece of barn wood and hung as art or used as a coat rack.

Funky Junk Donna, I thought about you the whole time I was in there. This store was right up your alley, especially when I ran across this old mail slot full of jars and jars of rusty goodness.

Check out these old architectural pieces......

and old cart wheels.......

vintage legs and pulleys.......

and of course, I didn't walk away empty handed. I bought an entire basket full of wooden thread spools to put in glass jars. I just think they are cool.......

If you are ever in Mobile you can visit Shar and her vintage shop, Papillon at
9 South Joachim Street
Mobile, Alabama 36602
251.405.5877

You can also find her on facebook by searching Papillon Loda.

After VBS tomorrow we might make it over to the beach for a little bit. I am itching to put my toes in the sand.......

Until tomorrow,
Kelli
