When I was a little girl, one of my favorite things that I owned was my child's table and chairs that was also my mother's as a child. I have so many memories of my friend Ginger and I, pretending we owned a restaurant or sitting down and serving each other tea.
I bought a set for my oldest daughter and ended up selling it later on as she grew out of it. Now little bit has one and it's her favorite thing in her whole room.
When I found this set a few weeks back, it had been loved A WHOLE lot. The finish was worn off, it had a lot of scratching and needed a REALLY good scrub from all of the mildew that had grown on it from being in damp storage.
After I got it paint ready, I coated it with several coats of old white, distressed it and put a few coats of poly to protect it. I opted for poly instead of wax because I know the abuse these things can take.
It's all good as new and ready to be loved again.
See, I told you Abbie girl loves these tables. She came out in her jammies this morning ready to color on the paper table runner.
If you have not entered the chalk paint contest yet, there is still time! Six more days until Stacey breaks out the gavel! For more details click here.
Great makeover and love the tablescape and bows on the chairs! The paper used as a runner is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteOh my, I love everything about this. Those bows on the chairs are adorable.

soooo cute! i also love kids table and chairs. my kids have 3 sets of them- i am a little bit of a child's table/chair hoarder, but they are so darn cute!
ReplyDeleteI love the table and chairs. Would you mind sharing how you crafted those bows... they are darling. Are they intended to be left on the chairs as the children use it or are the bows just for the photo shoot?
ReplyDeleteThis set is adorable & the bows just set it off! What kind of poly do you use over chalk paint? I am worried about it yellowing. thanks!
