GILDING WAX AND A RACE

A few weeks ago, I bought some gilding wax from Stacey at Faux Studio Designs here in Birmingham. I wanted to try some metallic without the cost of gold or silver leaf.  Can I just tell you......I am in LOVE.  
The first time that I used this wax, I was painting a frame for a client. We were trying to match a frame I had previously painted for her. This particular frame had some of the original gold peeping through.

 
 The second frame that she bought for me to use was gold, but it was painted  poorly, unlike the original, and when I went to sand the frame to distress it, the gold came off with it. So, I was stuck. I wasn't really sure what I was going to do.
 
 
 
 I brought home the gold from Stacey's and rubbed it on over the raised edges and VOILA. The gold looked better than the one before! It was a life saver for me.

My first piece of furniture was a little bachelors chest. I wanted to start small because I wasn't really sure how to use the wax or what it would look like.  
 I rubbed it on with my finger around the edges of the drawers and the top of the chest.
 
 
 After some distressing and a little dark wax, I was really happy with the results.
 
 You can apply the wax with your finger like I did, or you can use a brush. A tip from Virginia is to mix a little bit of the Renaissance Wax with the King Gold and you will get the exact look of gold leaf. How great is that?  A little bit goes a long way and this jar will last your forever.

On another note......I had a GREAT time running this morning in the Race for the Cure. I couldn't believe the amount of people that were there and the emotions were flying high. I teared up watching the survivor lap as well as watching my friend Cindy pin on Alex Kate's little bib on her t shirt that said, In Honor of My mommy.  Our T shirts said it all. We were CINDY'S C.O.M.B.A.T. CREW. Combat standing for Christ on my battlefield against triple-negative.  Praise be to God our Jehovah Rapha for her healing. I was honored to run for you sweet Cindy!
