My mother in law has been cleaning out her dad's house. We started talking a few months back about how I have been LOVING chalk paint on brass or just plain ugly lamps. I told her to PLEASE not throw anything out that I might could use. My husband was helping his dad with some projects and came home with a pair of these................................

Despite the hideously ugly shade and the worn and rusty gold metal, I saw this beautiful glass globe in the center. The painted lace detail mixed with the metallic gold was simply beautiful. I immediately pictured a little Hollywood glam.
I painted all of the gold with old white and then distressed, bringing out some of the gold detail through the white. After replacing the shade with a classic linen barrel, they were completely brought back into the 21st century. These are staying in my house. After I finish them both, they will sit on my media cabinet.

Love how this turned out just enough distressing very glam.
