BOW FRONT CHEST

A few weeks ago, I bought this chest at an Estate Sale. It is a great piece of furniture but had been beat up pretty bad. The drawers functioned very well, they were all clean and the hardware was all in tact. The finish was just really bad and it had scratches all over it. I knew I was more than likely going to keep this piece. I love it's deep drawers and classic lines.

One of our favorite inherited pieces from my husband's grandmother is a portrait of her that someone painted. She was a beautiful lady both inside and out, full of grace and a true Southern Belle.

I chose graphite for the top, old white for the body and provence for the drawers. I used a clear wax all over the piece and then some dark wax in various spots. My favorite new product is my gold gilding wax that I bought from Stacey at Faux Design Studios, here in Birmingham. I used this to detail the rims of the drawers and some of the raised areas.

I was busy today making some things for the Christmas open house this weekend at Urban Suburban!
I also picked up some hand made cross mugs, jewelry and some wax photos from a friend and local artisan that I will be carrying. I will share them with you in another post. I hope you had a great start to your week. I can't believe the holidays are already here!
