Yesterday I could have filmed my own episode of American Pickers. I had the privilege of being invited to a small little home that was built in 1917 and the family was selling the contents to individual dealers. The good furniture had already been claimed but my friend Robbie and I ventured into the basement to see what we could unearth. It was dark, musty and NASTY. I had my good clothes on but thankfully my friend Robbie was in a sweat suit and had gloves. We went through boxes that the rats had built nests in, dug through old tools and rifled through old wood right along with the spiders. We probably should have had on masks. Unfortunately I didn't uncover much that I was willing to take home with me, but I did find a few things. I bought a set of 13 old gears which are very popular right now with all of the industrial decor going on.
I also found a long wooden bowl, similar to a dough bowl but hand carved out of a log. It was still rough in texture but very unique. I think this bowl would be GORGEOUS with ferns in it this spring!
The bowl will be going to my new booth at Homewood Antiques and Marketplace on Tuesday but the gears are available for immediate purchase. I'm trying something new this month....just a little trial to see how it goes. I love the thrill of the hunt for unique items that you just can't go to a store and buy. I love to show you guys my favorite finds so I thought instead of taking everything to the store, I would offer up a new item or two on a shop page here on my blog. You will see it on the top navigation bar. These items will be up for about a week and then will be replenished with new items just to keep it fresh.

I will be at Atlanta market all day tomorrow looking for some fresh inspiration. I feel like I need a big jolt of that coming out of the Holiday season. It's hard getting back into the swing! I hope you all have a great weekend!
I LOVE the shop tab, Kelli! *sigh* If only I lived closer - like in the same country! Lol
ReplyDeleteI think it's fabulous to give your readers the chance to buy directly from you online, hun :o)
I love those gears. Sigh! Holiday broke right now! Sheesh!
ReplyDeleteGood idea to offer here on blog.
