I also finished up a pillow to go in my orange chair at the shop. I restored the arms and legs of this 1930's chair and keep putting pillows in it. The pillows keeps selling but the chair still stays! I think people are afraid of the orange, which is in ALL the magazines right now as a not only a hot color but a neutral as well! Who would have thought!
I finished up the hardare on some chalkboard frames that I painted. I love this one. It has that new Restoration Hardware finish look. I painted it with a chocolate brown, rubbed on some gold paint in the crevices, then I mixed a little white paint and a small amount of burn umber together and rubbed it on with a dry papertowel. I love how it turned out.
Here is how the frame looks in the shop! Tomorrow we will be rearranging to bring in the buffet that I am almost done with! I can't wait to show it off! Hopefully tomorrow, I can blog about it.
So I worked really hard on trying to finish up the buffet today. I painted and stained, painted and stained...Here is a little tidbit of advice. When using a gel stain, it is best to wear TWO gloves and not just one. FYI..the stain does NOT come off with soap and water:) I hope you all have a fabulous night and I will talk to you tomorrow!
I love how the frame turned out! I just may have to try that technique. Your photos are lovely as well. I really enjoyed looking through your blog and I'm glad you took that step. I'm your newest follower. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, something is wrong with the followers...I'll come back later.
ReplyDeleteI love the finish you created for that frame too! I want to try a finish like that for some antique chairs I am working on. I think the orange chair is lovely and I am sure it will sell. It is just waiting for the right person to come along and snatch it up:)
ReplyDeleteI really love the darker oranges, the ones that are closer to brown and red, as well as the very coral colors, however, it's a tricky color to use. I think the chair is beautiful. You did a great job on it.
