DECK CUSHIONS, OLIVE SPREAD AND A PARTY

We had my family over tonight for my sweet dad's 60th birthday. I scurried around at the last minute trying to find some end of the year deck cushions. I have not made or purchased any yet for my vintage outdoor furniture and everything is totally picked over. I found these bright and fun pillows at World Market yesterday and today. I went to two stores to get what few they had. These colors are totally out of my comfort zone, but the girls like them and they make my deck look happy. They were perfect for what I needed them for tonight.

I was so excited to be able to light my cute little 25 cent lanterns mom and I found at a yard sale a few weeks back.  They were already perfectly weathered for me.

I made a new olive spread for an appetizer. I processed olives with pimentos, black olives and a little olive oil in the food processor until I achieved a good spreading consistency. It was served with brie and water crackers. If you like olives and cheese you have to try this! It was delicious!

My dad is an avid golfer. I set the table with a simple center piece using golf balls in my flower vase and tees sprinkled on a piece of burlap.

Dad came over sporting this pretty sweet fedora that belonged to my granddaddy.

He was bringing it to give to one of us. My sister, Kristi swiped it before I could get to it. BOO! It did look pretty darn cute on her though.

Happy Birthday Daddy! Thank you for being such a great leader for our family. You are loved and appreciated so very much.

  1. Kelli, try the Summer Classics outlet (warehouse behind the showroom) for outdoor cushions. It's in Pelham, just off of HWY 31. You'll most likely see some fabulous decorating ideas in their showroom while you're there :)

  4. Hey There! SMALL WORLD...I have been following your lovely blog for a few months now. I ran across it when I was researching the best and easiest way to refinish furniture. I kept running into this new "Chalk Paint". Long story short, I found somewhere in Pelham that sells it. Stacey was very helpful and told me to also check out your blog-she said it would have some helpful hints. Well, I just read this post and recognized your Father. He was my first softball coach when my Mom and I moved to Birmingham (YEARS AGO). Your sister Kristi was on my team and I just remember what a great coach he was and a great pitcher Kristi was. Very sweet christian family. You favor your sister:). Small world, It has been like 20 plus years ago and I still remember him as a coach! Just thought I would share that! Love all your work, Leslie
