I am hosting Thanksgiving breakfast at my house for my family. We love to watch the parade, but after it's over, we have to head out to visit three sets of parents. It gets a little crazy. I wanted the girls to wake up to a beautiful dining room with breakfast casserole, blueberry muffins, sausage swirls and fruit skewers and to be able to enjoy it with extended family. I am also trying to get the dining room done for a Christmas party that I am hosting for my 11 year old and her little girl friends.
I picked up this sideboard from another dealer a few weeks ago at Urban Suburban. I was originally going to sell it, but I paid too much and ended up falling in love with it, and painting it for myself. I love the serpentine front and all of the storage space. It had minor cosmetic flaws as well as a dated, speckled finish. I knew it would be beautiful painted.
I decided to do another graphite top. I love how it mimics slate. I mixed equal parts of Annie Sloan Chalk paint in paris gray and louise blue. I used Annie Sloan's dark wax in certain areas to give it an aged, french feel. I loathe my chadelier, but I must live with it until I find the right frenchy piece with a little bling.
The lamps on the buffet were my birthday present. I originally bought them to sell, but I fell in love with them too! If I keep holding onto my inventory I am never going to make any money! They are original pieces of art from Peter Sardelis, made from antique iron pieces. My mirror is from Uttermost, but believe it or not I found it at a yard sale for 50.00. It was a major splurge but I looked it up online and it's still available for 425.00!! That was a major score in my book.
This week I will be working on chairs for the dining room. I have none. Being in this business causes things to cycle out of here all of the time! It is kind of fun though because I can change things up whenever I want too. I found 4 shield back chairs downstairs in my stash that I am going to try and finish up before next Thursday. We shall see.........
