PLACE CARD HOLDERS AND A CLEAN EATING PIZZA

I have been in Thanksgiving mode, as I am sure most of you are too. I don't have any dining room chairs and I have been working on trying to get some from my chair stash painted. I finished one of them last night and I decided to try and glaze it. Oh, I wish I had not done that. It did not look at ALL what I had intended it too, so today......I am starting over. UGH.

Last week, I visited a shop here in town called ChickaDEE. It is located in the heart of Cahaba Heights. My baby sister's college friend, Kate, opened it up a few months back with her mother in law. They both are super talented designers and I just LOVE going in and looking around. Kate had a table all set for Thanksgiving and I fell in love with this set of glass vase place card holders. I bought 6 of them, should have bought twelve, and I will use them on Thursday. I can think of so many other occasions they are good for! Look how cute they are........

On a completely other note, I have lost about 10 pounds over the past 6 weeks, trying to stick to a clean diet. I have been eating no processed foods, sugars or chemicals. This basically means eating fresh and eating the way God intended us to. I have never had so much energy and the weight just seemed to melt off. I did cheat and eat birthday cake but it made me feel so tired and sluggish after I ate it. I now can see how sugar can be related to a drug! One of my favorite recipes that I have come up with is a Barbecue Chicken Pizza with a Hawaiian Twist. I crave this pizza and eat it at least twice a week! I wanted to share it with you.

My crust is found in the ethnic section of the grocery store. It's an Ezekiel Bread Tortilla. It's only 80 calories and has all of the essential grains that our diets lack such as millet and barley. The recipe actually came directly out of the Bible in Ezekiel. I then use a clean barbecue sauce. Look for low sugar and low carbs. I sprinkled it with goat cheese, grilled chicken breast, purple onion, pineapple and fresh chopped cilantro and then baked it in the oven on 350 until the crust was crisp. It is delicious!! I am heavily considering starting another blog in addition to this one that is specifically geared towards eating clean and clean recipes. I need a place to catalog my recipes for myself and thought I would share them with others. Would anyone be interested in reading such a blog? I would love to know your thoughts.

  2. I would love reading more about your clean recipes! I have also been trying to avoid processed food and eat less refined sugar and such. It does help you feel so much better! The funny thing is, I have been having such fun creating recipes that I started a blog just about food too!(theuglykitchenexperiment.blogspot.com) Granted, the first recipes aren't super healthy (I made pies!), but my goal is to make food that uses nutritious and simple ingredients!
That bbq pizza looks amazing :)

  5. Kelli, Yes, for a food blog about clean eating with recipes and secrets for how to eat out and on the run. I think that is where we fail in attempting to eat clean and our choices are limited. And, for me, a simple, easy to follow daily suggested menus. I have just started to have interest in this type eating. Details on how you started and what changes you made at home (does your family participate?)and more about the weight loss (10 pounds - good for you).

  10. Yes! I would really enjoy your recipes! A few years ago, my husband I ate that way after reading a book called the maker's diet by Jordan Rubin. Then enter pregnancy, newborns, and toddlers and I got away from it! I have some baby weight to lose, so your recipes would help get me going!

  16. I just read Anti-Cancer: A New Way of Life book (written NOT just for ppl diagnosed w cancer) and immediately changed my diet after that. I highly recommend reading! It's an international best seller and will change your life. Bc of this book, for the last month I have been eating non processed foods, no sugar, and meat just 3xs a week. You're right, it's amazing the way you feel! I am not trying to lose weight but I lost 3lbs without even trying. I drink a lot of green tea w honey now, since I can't put all the sugar I used to drown my coffee in.

Yes, I would love to read a food blog that was all about homemade non processed eating! Start it, gf!
