Yesterday we were working in the yard, cleaning up the millions of leaves that are falling from our giant oaks in the back. I noticed that there were a lot of little baby pine trees that had sprouted up since the last time I cleaned out my natural beds. I started pulling them up by the roots. After I had gathered quite a few, I looked at them in my hand and realized they were forming a beautiful swag. Instead of throwing them in my trash pile, I started looking for other things out of my yard that I could add to it. I found huge clumps of berries on my nandina bush. I also remembered that I had just bought two very large sugar cones at the thrift store for two dollars. After I got them situated where I wanted them, I wrapped floral wire around it all to keep them in place. I went through my stash of burlap and found some garden burlap used to line pots. I cut it in strips, made a bow and voila, my two dollar swag.
So, before you go off spending a fortune on fresh greenery.......take a look at your own back yard. You might be surprised at what you might find.
Simple but stunning. Love it!
