FRENCH CHEST

I had a lot of fun with this piece. I fell in love with its petite, feminine shape when I saw it on craigslist. I was able to get this piece along with its matching night stand and dresser. I played around with layering again using not only annie sloan chalk paint but with craft paint as well. I used a turquoise craft paint and watered it down really well making a wash. I also used the new crackle tex I have been telling you about that Stacey is carrying now in her studio. I love that stuff. It really ads another dimension of believability when it comes to making something look aged and worn.

The top is just a layer of coco chalk paint with dark wax and a good sanding to bring some of the old color through. The hardware was too "new" looking so I dry brushed them with a little french linen and then gave them a good dark wax. I love the way this turned out! I think this would be precious in a bathroom, I wish I had room in mine. This piece went to Homewood today along with some vintage gym locker baskets I found while antiquing in Roanoke,VA.
Have a great weekend! We are off to the lake to celebrate Fathers Day.

Linking to Miss Mustard Seeds FFF who just helped me with my camera settings for these shots.
Thanks girl for the advice!
